The Friends of Holme School

"To support Holme C of E Primary Academy by raising money to benefit the pupils and by organising and supporting school related events."

The Friends of Holme School is a registered charity run entirely by volunteers for the sole purpose of enriching the educational and social elements of school life for every child. Its membership includes parents, carers and school staff.

In the past year the Friends has paid for new play equipment in the school playground (part funded by a grant from the Holme Reading Room Trust) as well as medals for every child to mark their determination throughout the pandemic and items for use in class such as additional resources and stationary. It has also paid for experiences for the children too, such as the Christmas pantomime which all pupils were able to watch in school in December and our Festival of Fun to mark the end of the year.

Many of these items and experiences could not have been purchased or provided without the funding from the Friends and of course the support of parents for the events.

Members are also involved in the sale of pre-loved school uniform and Christmas jumpers and run the 100 club, a lottery which involves parents and other relatives being able to buy a number for a monthly draw.

The Friends is a small team, but we are all so proud of what we achieve each year for our school. With more members we could achieve so much more! So, if you would like to find out more about the Friends and how you might be able to help, please get in touch with us at friendsofholmeschool@hotmail.co.uk. It might be that you want to support just one event a year – any support you can offer would be very much appreciated.

Alternatively, please let us know if you have ideas or suggestions for ways the Friends could raise money, or if you know of local businesses that may be willing to sponsor our events.

Finally, we would like to say a big thank you to everyone for their support - the parents who attend and support our events, volunteers who support at the events, teachers and staff at the school, and especially and everyone on the committee; we could not do any of it on our own.

Just like our wonderful school, we are small but mighty and together we will continue to make our school the best we can for children now and in years to come.
